Cleveland entrepreneur Joe Matejka founded Walk Your Plans after experiencing firsthand the disconnect that can happen between blueprints and reality while building a large investment property in Idaho. After realizing the home’s “great room” was far smaller and less functional than envisioned once construction was complete, Joe set out to create a better way for homeowners, developers and designers to experience spaces before they are built. A lifelong entrepreneur who has participated in multiple national licensee buildouts throughout his career, Joe launched Walk Your Plans in Northeast Ohio with the goal of helping people make smarter planning decisions through immersive, true-to-scale walkthrough technology. Since launching, the company has rapidly expanded nationwide, gaining viral social traction, celebrity interest and more than 50 locations across the country.

I make a lot of phone calls!
How long have you been here?
3.5 yrs, since day 1!
What's something people don't know about your role?
I am in charge of recruiting/licensing. Recruiting entails interviewing those interested in opening a Walk Your Plans in their local market.
Favorite WYP memory?
Our first viral video, which signaled global interest in our brand. That was an exciting time for Jackson and I.
What's one thing you've learned while building WYP?
This is an out of sight, out of mind business.
In your career, what's one thing you've learned the hard way?
Shortcuts never pay off in the end

I was a cheerleader in college- and I loved it!
